Tag questions

Use tag questions to check things when we are not sure.

Tag questions go at the end of the sentence using the correct corresponding auxiliary verbs.

If the sentence is affirmative, the tag question is negative then, and if the sentence is negative, the tag question is affirmative.


Let’s see the examples:

a. You know the chef, don’t you?
     Affirmative – S. present    Negative

b. Mary isn’t from Italy, is she?
       Negative – verb to be      Aux. verb to be

c. Jenny can play baseball, can’t he?

d. Junior knows the best chef, doesn’t he?

e. Karl isn’t going to the cinema today, is he?

Note: If you use “this, that, these, those”, replace them with “It, they”.


Examples:
