   I would rather eat pizza (than pasta). 

• Would she prefer to eat pizza or pasta?
   She would prefer to eat pizza (rather than pasta). 

Note: Would rather can be abbreviated to “ ‘d rather”.
           Would prefer can be abbreviated to “ ‘d prefer”.

Examples: 

a. I’d rather eat pizza.
b. She’d prefer to eat pizza. 

*Would rather and would prefer have the same structure for all the pronouns.

When we talk about general preferences, we can use “prefer” or “like.” We usually use” prefer…to…” and “like… better than…” when we talk about two options. These words are nouns.
