Vocabulary

1. Appetizer (n): /ˈæpəˌtaɪzər/ Aperitivo
A food you eat before the main part of a meal.
Example: Natalie always asks salad for her appetizer.

2. Avaricious (adj): /ˌævəˈrɪʃəs/ Avaro
A strong feeling that you want to have a lot of money and possessions and keep them for yourself.
Example: William is a rich person. He has always been avaricious.

3. Catch up (v): /kæʧ/ /ʌp/ Alcanzar
To improve in order to reach the same standard or rate as something.
Example: Jayden got distracted in class; he has to catch up with the reading.

4. Caterer (n): /keɪtərər/ Proveedor de comida
A person or business that organizes the food or drinks at an event such as a party or meeting.
Example: William became a caterer for the 5-star hotel two years ago.

5. Costume (n): /kɑˈstum/ Disfraz
Clothes that performers wear in a play, movie, etc.
Example: Jackson never wears a costume in Halloween.

6. Deserve (v): /dɪˈzɜrv/ Merecer
If you deserve something, it is right that you get it because of the way you have behaved.
Example: Christopher finished his career; he deserves the best.
