/ˈlɪsən/ /ænd//rid/ /ðɪs/ /teɪl/ Lee este cuento.

THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE (da jer an da tórtes)

One day, the hare and the tortoise decided to have a race.
(uán déi, da jer an da tórtes disáidid tu jav a réis.)

The hare knew that he could run faster than the tortoise.
(da jer niú dat ji cud ran fáster dan da tórtes.)

But the tortoise was more intelligent than the hare.
(bat da tórtes uás mor intélillent dan da jer.)

“Yes, I race you”, said the clever tortoise.
(“lles, ái réis llu”, sed da cléver tórtes.)

The tortoise had a clever plan.
(da tórtes jad a cléver plan.)

He found his brothers and sisters and told them to wait in different places along the path of the race.
(ji fáund jis bróders an sísters an told dem tu uéit in díferent pléises alón da paz ov da réis.)

So they all hid behind the trees.
(sóu déi ol jid bijáind da tris.)

The race began! The tortoise ran as fast as possible.
(da réis begán! da tórtes ran as fast as pósibol.)n

But the hare was faster, of course.
(bat da jer uás fáster, ov cors.)

“This is an easy race”, thought the hare.
(“dis is an ísi réis”, zot da jer.)

So the hare decided to have a rest, and he fell asleep at the side of the road. Then, the hare woke up and saw the tortoise ahead of him!
(sóu da jer disáidid tu jav a rest, an ji fel aslíp at da sáid ov da róud. den, da her uók ap an so da tórtes ajéd ov jim!)

Obviously, it was the tortoise’s sister. The hare ran and passed her.
(óviusli, it uás da tórteses síster. Da jer ran an past jer.)

The hare didn’t notice it was the sister because all tortoises look the same for him.
(da jer dídent nótis it uás da síster bicós ol tórteses luk da séim for him.)

After, he decided to have another rest.
(áfter, ji disáidid tu jav anóder rest.)

When he woke up, he ran to the finish line, but another tortoise crossed the line and won the race!
(uén ji uók ap, ji ran tu da fínish laín, bat anóder tórtes crost da láin an uón da réis!)
